The 'Abenaque Machine Works of Westminster Station, Vermont, USA was formed about 1893 to make gasoline engines designed by John Ostenburg. In 1908 the company built its first tractor, using a 15 hp (11 kW) stationary-type single-cylinder engine. In 1911, slightly improved tractors were made in both 15- and 25 hp (19 kW) sizes. Abenaque advertised their tractors as being designed for “the hard continuous service demanded by such work as plowing, threshing, hauling, and general farm and road work”.

Tractor production may have ended after 1911 but the company continued making other products until entering bankuptcy in 1915. It then struggled along for a few more years selling engines and parts, and finally went bankrupt for good in 1921.
