The first Bakewell Showground Spectacular was held on the 2nd & 3rd of May 2010 at the Bakewell Showground in Derbyshire, England. The town of Bakewell is located in the centre of Derbyshire and on the A6, making for easy access. The Showground is home to the Bakewell Show a traditional agricultural show held every August.
Show details[]
The show featured Classic Cars, Commercials and Tractors and plant with a selection of stationary engines. With the added feature of a small contingent of tractor pullers to disturb the peace. The cars ranged from 1920's through to very modern sports cars with a few military vehicles as well.
In addition to the exhibits of Classic vehicles there were trade stands & autojumble stalls and a large Fun fair for the kids (old and young).
Opinion[]
The event had a Very good selection of plant and a good number of commercials, but lacking in the tractors and cars, but the poor weather may have curtailed numbers a bit.
The layout was a bit too open (an unusual complaint as often exhibits are too cramped). The tractor pulling was down the behind the commercials line, but you can hear its roar. (Health & Safety dictated it been isolated but it was rather hidden away as was the local Scouts Archery stand till it was relocated (a bit too close to the plant line up IMO)
Signage from the North east (Baslow and Sheffield) was non existent to direct you to the car park at the south end of the site. The site would have benefited from an entry point at the town end by the Bakewell Agricultural Centre building straight into the funfair & near the Town centre carparks & foot bridge over the river.
