Citroen

The Citroen company was founded in France in 1904 by Andre Citroen to manufacture his own design of double-helical gear wheel. The firm moved into Automobile (car) and Tractor production after the First World war.

The company was started in 1904, by Andre Citroen, as an engineering firm manufacturing components. The factory moved to shell production during the war. Then started building Automobiles in 1919, with tractor production also being started. The Citroen tractor was a light weight 800 kg design for Vineyard use. This was fitted witha similare engine to the Model A car, a 4-cylinder 10/12 hp unit of 1367 cc.
Sales were poor and after a bit were handed over to Société Agricultural company of Aubervilliers (SACA). only 500 about were built.[1] or about 700[2] between 1919 & 1922.
[edit] Kegresse Half Track
The Citroen company obtained a license to build the Kegresse Half-track equipped vehicles. In 1924 trials were carried out in France of a half-track machine design by Adolphe Kegresse, which was known as the Citroen-Kegresse. The Half tracks were a Rubber design, but was found to be unsuitable for agricultural use, but subsequently found favour with the military. With light trucks and Staff cars converted (Image to add).
