Notes |
Based on a Ford 9700 (1978-79) Ford TW-20 (1979-81) Ford TW-25(1981-87) |
The County 1474 was one of the high horsepower designs based on the Ford TW series of tractors with an equal wheeled design. Ford had started building equal 4-wd models by this time. The tractor was designed by County Commercial Cars Ltd in 1978 as part of the last range before they went bust in 1983.[1]
Model history[]
The County 1474 was launched in 1978 based on the Ford 9700 skid unit which had a 149 hp (111 kW) turbo charged Ford 6-cylinder engine. It was upgraded in 1979 with the Ford TW-20 engine and again in 1981 with the Ford TW-25 unit

Preservation[]
The Model is becoming more sought after by collectors as one of the modern models for a set of county tractors, as few 1884s are available. A few examples are still at work & several tractors originally exported have been reimported into the UK and Ireland by collectors. They are often used as a work / play tractor, just being used for od jobs during the season at peak times.
- It is no known how may exist today. Examples are known to be in several countries besides the UK.
