Driffield Steam and Vintage Rally

The Driffield Steam and Vintage Rally is held each August on Driffield Show Ground at Driffield in East Yorkshire, England. The gathering is organised by the The East Riding Engine Club. The Event is held to raise money for local charities, and is partialy sponsored by local business. 2009 was the 20th event.
The site is a large relatively flat area sheltered by trees with hard standing road ways and some permanent facilities situated in eastern edge of the Vale of York.
the event has a large number of trophies for a wide range of classes of exhibits.

The 2009 event is a National Traction Engine Trust Authorised Event. Exhibit classes included:

- Tractors
- Working area
- Show ring
- Commercial vehicles
- Fairground rides, Stalls and Fairground Organs
- Vintage Cars
- Trade stalls
- Collectable Models
- Collectables
- Stationary Engines
- Club stand for The Great Yorkshire Traction Engine Club who organise the rally.

- A selection of catering vans and The Beer tent
- Etc.

The event was effected by the weather with some heavy showers and soft ground curtailing activities in the ring. The event attracts over 800 exhibits across a wide range oc categories.

The exhibits included a number of first time visitors to the event. The engines section had over 30 entries and about the same number of miniature steam engines., with groups of exhibits by local model engineering clubs of other machines, boats, planes etc.

A number of interesting vehicles were present. But the layout was a bit poor with a second line hidden behind the ones fronting the roadways & no real order to the line up !!
