The Farmall Super A was built by International Harvester from 1947 to 1954 in Chicago, Illinois and Louisville, Kentucky, USA.

Introduced in late 1947, the McCormick Farmall Super A was an upgrade of the Farmall A with more standard equipment, adding to its weight. The Super A was mechanically identical to the A except for a slightly higher compression ratio that gave it slightly more power. One of the main features of the Super A was the "Touch-Control" hydraulic system. The Super A ushered in a whole range of “Super” tractors for International Harvester.

Tractor Comparison[]

During the years the Super A was in production, several other manufacturers made small tractors of similar layout (most without the offset design of the Farmall). As shown in the table, the Allis-Chalmers B, Case VAS, John Deere M, and Massey-Harris Pacer were closest to the Super A in hp, weight, and price. The Super A had the lowest hp in the group so, in 1954, International Harvester brought out the updated Farmall Super A-1 with slightly more power from a larger displacement engine.
