Hitachi Construction Machinery Tierra Co, Ltd. was founded in 1949 and is based in Kadoma-city, Osaka, Japan. It is a unit of the Hitachi company, and manufactures mini-excavators and formerly tractors and combine harvesters under the Hitachi brand. Tierra means ground or earth in Spanish. The first Hitachi tractor was manufactured in 1962. Hitachi Tierra took over the Hinomoto/Toyosha company in 1990, another Japanese tractor and engine manufacturer, with the Hinomoto name being dropped in 1997.[1] They appear to have stopped manufacturing tractors in or around 2009.
