IDEAL (Industria de Maquinas Agricolas Ideal, S.A.), combine harvesters were manufactured in Canoas City, Brazil by Iochpe-Maxion. IDEAL grew out of Empresa Moinhos Santa Rosa Ltda., which was founded in 1953. The company built their first combine harvesters in 1970, and in 1974, signed an agreement with Deutz-Fahr to begin using DF's combine designs. Financial issues arose, causing this agreement to unravel. In 1978, International Harvester and Iochpe made a financial investment into IDEAL, leading to combines based on IH's designs and the use of the International name alongside IDEAL. International Harvester faced their own financial problems in 1984, which led to the sale of IH to Tenneco in 1985, so in 1984, IH's shares in IDEAL were sold to Iopche.

In 1986, Iopche took control of both Massey Ferguson and Perkins in Brazil, giving rise to the new Maxion brand and the combining of IDEAL and Maxion operations. The MF combine manufacturing was moved to Santa Rosa in with IDEAL in 1990, and a new Maxion-branded combine, and the new 9080 and 9090 combines were released.

Iochpe-Maxion's agricultural equipment division was purchased by AGCO in 1996, with the International Harvester designs being replaced by Massey Ferguson's, and the IDEAL brand was dropped by 1999.[1]
