The 1000B was changed very little from the 1000A. The only styling change was a new grille with a chrome grille surround and a fine mesh center. Both standard and optional rear axles were increased in capacity but the GVW ratings were unchanged at 4200 lb standard and 5000 lb optional with heavier springs and larger tires. The engine lineup was mostly unchanged: BG-241 and BG-265 6-cylinder and V-266 and V-394 V8s. A new top option was the 197-hp V8 V-345 previously used only in medium-duty Loadstar and tilt-cab trucks.
