The International 284 Diesel 4WD was built by KIMCO from 1980 to 1984 in Japan.

The 284 Diesel 4WD was the same as the 2WD version except for the added front wheel drive mechanism. A separate serial number range was used for the 4WD version.
Tractor Comparison[]
As shown in the accompanying table, the International 284 Diesel 4WD was priced quite a bit lower than all of the other tractors in the same power class except the very light Bolens-Iseki G244. Going by serial number records, 3,310 of the 284 4WD tractors were built before the failing International Harvester sold its farm equipment operations to Tenneco. Under Tenneco, production was restarted with the tractor named the Case-International 284 Diesel 4WD
