In the last year of production for the big COE models, the letter “R” was dropped from the RDC-405 model number. The DC-405 was little changed from its predecessor. Trailing-axle tandem (DCT-405) and dual-drive tandem (DCF-405) were also built. Lightweight versions in the series (with the –L designation) used lightweight components, including smaller engines. The DC-405L was powered by the mid-range Cummins JT-6B diesel and C-405L models used International gasoline engines.
