In 1941 the International K-8F 6x4 replaced the International D-246F. The GVW rating was increased from 24,000 to 27,000 lb by using stronger axles and springs. The slightly upgraded mid-1947 KB-8F continued with the 27,000 lb GVW rating and the 140-hp Red Diamond RED-401 engine used in the last K-8Fs. In 1948 International advertised a maximum GVW of 35,100 lb for ideal conditions. In 1949 the basic GVW rating went up to 30,000 lb.
