The JCB 444 is a model of engine designed and built by JCB. They have set up an new factory at Foston, Derbyshire to build them.
A pair of highly modified versions of this engine were fitted to the JCB Dieselmax which set a new world land speed record for a diesel powered vehicle. The new record is 350 mph.
