Marshall Traction Engine Emma at Woodcote Rally 2009

Marshall no. 61970 is a Agricultural Traction Engine built by Marshall, Sons & Co. of Gainsborough in Lincolnshire in 1913. This engine is currently named Emma and carries the Registration Numbers BJ 5934 and is owned by T. Petty from Hertfordshire.

Engine history[]

  • 1913 - Built in July and Shown at the 1913 Lincolnshire Show. Before being sold that October to H. Holland (Threshing Contractors) of Dollinghoo in Suffolk.
  • 1914-1961 - details unknown. - Can you help with more details of this engines history ?
  • 1961 or 64 - (details vary) Found in a scrap yard in Hertfordshire. Bought and restored by Stan Hatfield.
  • 1967 - Attend first rally
  • ? - more info required
  • 1984 - Bought by T. Petty (current owner)
  • 1995 - new boiler and firebox fitted and general overhaul and rallied since doing duty on th working demonstrations powering a rack saw at some events.
  • Fitted new tyres in 2008[Entry need details checking]
