The Massey Ferguson 6490 was introduced in 2004 as a replacement for the Massey Ferguson 6290 model. It had a 145 hp (108 kW) Perkins engine.

The Massey Ferguson 6490 is part of the Massey Ferguson 6400 series of modern 100 hp + tractors. This model swapped from the Perkins 1000 series engine used in the outgoing Massey Ferguson 6200 series to the Sisu built engines.

Preservation[]

These tractors are too new for preservation as they are state of the art machines with Tier IV engines to meet the latest emissions regulations.

Will they become future classics in 20 years time or are they too complex with the electronics controlling every thing ?
