Massey Ferguson 135 and MF 11 spreader at Oswestry 2011 -IMG 0885

Restored Massey Ferguson 11 fertiliser spreader on a Massey Ferguson 135 tractor at a tractor show

Massey Ferguson marketed a number of Fertiliser spreaders under there own name. These were made by outside contractors and originated from Harry Ferguson's idea of offering his tractor tractor with a complete range of accessories and implements to compliment it.

The spreader was driven by the Power Take Off and was fitted on the 3-point linkage and filled by tipping 1cwt bags of fertiliser in manually.

The Massey Ferguson machines were built with a sheet metal hopper which tended to corrode if not cleaned out after use and stored under cover. Other makes fitted a glass-fibre or plastic hopper to cure the corrosion problem.

Model range[]

The initial offering was the Ferguson version re-branded following the merger with Massey-Harris in the new red livery.

As tractor sizes grew in the 1960s and 1970s newer larger models were offered.
