Motira is a tractor assembler/manufacturer joint venture located in Harare, Zimbabwe founded in 2008. It was originally to be a joint venture between ITMCo of Iran with 45%, Willowvale Mazda Motor Industries of Zimbabwe with approx. 55% (which is part of Industrial Development Corporation of Zimbabwe), and DongFeng Agriculture Machinery with a minority interest. It was originally to be called ZimIran. Production began in 2010 utilizing CKDs from ITMCo. Production will eventually add more domestic content. According to the Development Corporation of Zimbabwe (IDC)'s website, IDC owns 46%, ITMCO and the associated Iran Foreign Investment Company own 55%.[1]
In its first year, 56 tractors were assembled, with plans to assemble 68 in 2011,[2] and the potential to produce 23 tractors per day, or 7,000 per year.[3]
