A WikiProject is a group of editors that want to work together as a team to improve Tractor Wiki. These groups often focus on a specific topic area (for example, Company history) or a specific kind of task (for example, checking newly created pages).
A WikiProject's pages is not a place to write encyclopedia articles directly, but a resource to help coordinate and organise the writing and editing of those articles. WikiProjects often write advice for editors, use bots to track what is happening at articles of interest to the group, and create handy lists of tools and templates their members commonly use. The discussion pages attached to a project page are a convenient forum for those involved in that project to talk about what they are doing, to ask questions, and to receive advice from other people interested in the group's work.
Tractor Wiki does not currently have any active groups but some pages imported from Wikipedia and updated for Tractor Wiki have retained the Project tags to allow for various project groups to be created and save having to tag the articles from scratch were they are relevant to a WikiProject.
The English Wikipedia currently has about 2,000 Wikiprojects. See Wikipedia:Wikiprojects which this idea is based on.

Creating and maintaining a project Edit
Creating a WikiProject is the process of creating a group of people who want to work together.
Before starting, read the Wikipedia:guide to WikiProject organisation, and peruse some existing WikiProjects to understand how they operate "in the wild". If you're not sure about creating a new project, or aren't certain if anyone else is interested, you can make a WikiProject proposal. Groups of like-minded editors may start new WikiProjects at any time and are encouraged, but not obligated, to propose them before doing so. Formal proposals have many advantages, including receiving valuable input, and saving a lot of work, and recruiting potential members. Note:Projects covering a group of articles or section of the Wiki do not "Own It" but can help formulates polices and style guides that relate to that particular subject area. Articles may fall under multiple WikiProjects area of interest & expertise.
